  • I got so tired I fell asleep on the MTR train from Tung Chung back to Hong Kong station. Now I’m at the starbucks in ifc mall, recharging the batteries of my cellphone and digital cameral, It’ll take a few hours I guess, so during the time I can also relax myself and write sth using my newly bought mini-notebook. I like the ASUS notebook, which I bought in Fortress shop in Harbour City two day ago. It cost me 2448HKD, the moment I paid for it by my GDB credit card, a text message from 95508 came saying that I consumed 2159.63RMB, the bank did instant currencies exchange calculation, that’s good.

Tonight it’s Christmas Eve. This is my first time to spend the christmas holiday out of mainland china, and I antispated it’d be an experenice different from previous ones. Having been here for 4 days, I did feel the holiday atmosphere stronger than that in mainland, be it the lights and decorations in the shopping malls & on the outside surface of those skyscrapers across the victoria harbour, or the discounts and special offers everywhere. What’s going on tonight? I don’t know, all I will do is go and see after my two batteries are fully recharged.

Here is my plan tonight: go to causeway bay to continue shopping, and if time permits, go again to mong kok, to shop till drop, watch a midnight movie, and spend the night there. Between the two destinations, I’m also considering going to TST, on the Avenue of Stars and around, I guess there’ll be some celebarations and carnevals---I have to admit I’ve been in the TST (Central as well) too many times that sometimes I’m quite relucant to revisit these two areas.

The citygate outlets in Tung Chung  I visited today didn’t give me pleasant surprises. True, some of its outlets from famous brands are much more price-attractive than the countparts in mainland, but they’re always too big or too small for me. While many others, the prices of which are still too high for me, even if they’re 70% off or more, I still won’t afford to buy, like those in Dunhill, Timberland etc. Though fruitless regards of shopping, I did have a wonderful lunch there. The vietnam food tastes so good I decide to have more try on southeast asians cuisines---yesterday I tried some filipino food in the world-wide plaza in central, in the mall there’re so many southeast asians doing business, the various items they sell in their shops are mostly bargain cheap, but I guess few non southeast-asian customers will do actual shopping there. Many things seem fake and of low quality, and the owners’ way of speaking and behaving are just…a little bit weird.

So I hope I can “succeed in” shopping tonight, clothes come first, than probrably a bag, or a pair of shoes, come next.

PS: the chinese name of the MTR station “Tung Chung” puzzled me. Why it’s writen as”东涌”, while read as “东Chong”, the traditional form of the character “冲”is  “涌”, or sth?

前些天无意间听了My  Little Airport的歌,很是喜欢,现在脑海里还经常盘旋着诸如《浪漫九龙塘》等等一些歌的旋律,甚至歌词,“I want to sing you a song, about me and you went to Kowloon Tong…

    6) UnionPay(银联)卡的受理情况还远远没有普遍啊。

  • starbucks@HKU

四月份香港之行的照片一直未在blog上“大肆”张贴,这篇更新也就贴上两张,上张是starbucks@ the University of Hong Kong(HKU),接下来这张是starbucks@ International Finance Centre(ifc),剩下的,就贴上我那facebook的trip to hongkong album的链接吧,精选了三十几张上传到了facebook,就不想再在blog里上传一遍了,我真的是越来越懒惰,也越来越自我了。。。http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2020633&id=1051892009&l=5b83317ac5

    PKU & HKU

i'll go see a university, usually the best one in the region, when touring a city every time...this has almost become a tradition for me, you know what, deep in my heart i wanna be a scholar most, or more specifically, a scholar educated in a renowed american graduate school.

one month apart, i've visited beijing and hongkong, and the two best universities of the two cities. PKU vs HKU, personally i like the latter better, probrably because it feels more like a western univeristy.

  • there're many indian men making small hotel-renting business around the Chungking Mansions, whenever you looked at them or didn't walk fast enough, you'd embrace an immediate swarm of indian men touting their ‘quality hotel’, which left me a deep impression...frankly i was kind of freaked out, lol = =
